Project/Program Name

By My Side Summer Program (Fremont First United Methodist Church)

The By My Side program provides one on one instruction to Fremont Public Schools elementary students in math and reading. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Book shelves
  • Grade level books (reading and math)

Camp Calvin Crest, Conference and Retreat Center, Inc.

Camp Calvin Crest hosts camps, conferences and retreats. Some of the wish list items include:

  • Replace 45-year-old swimming pool
  • Construct an activity/recreation center

Cedar Bluffs Public Schools

Some of the wish list programs/needs at Cedar Bluffs Public Schools include:

  • Replace our present trail sign "TRAIL Est. 2000"
  • Build "History of Cedar Bluffs" kiosk
  • Lighting

Davenport Early Childhood Center

Davenport serves children with disabilities in Fremont, ranging from speech delay to autism to orthopedic handicaps. One of Davenport School's wish list items is for new playground equipment.

Dodge County Head Start

Some of the wish list needs for the Dodge County Head Start include:

  • An audiometer for conducting hearing screenings on pre-school children (approximately $3000)
  • Tricycles for the children to use while at school (approximately $100-$150 each)
  • Bike Helmets for the children to use while at school (approximately $10-$20 each)
  • Sand toys for the children to use while at school
  • Tumbling Mats for use at school (approximately $250 each)
  • An outdoor playhouse for the school playground (approximately $300-$500)
  • Materials/Donations for a children’s garden at school during the spring
  • A washer and dryer for doing laundry at school

Fremont Area Art Association

The mission of the Fremont Area Art Association is to promote art culture and education in the Fremont area. Some of their wish list items include:

  • A new roof - it leaks and a lot of money is spent patching the existing roof which was installed in 1992
  • A sound system for all three levels, that would enhance the atmosphere of the building, particularly during receptions
  • LCD system, which would allow more effective experiences for the audiences in the classes and programs offered

Friends of the Fremont Area Parks, Inc.

The purpose of the Friends of the Fremont Area Parks, Inc. is to raise funds for the perpetual development, protection and enhancement of the Fremont area parks and urban forest through public and private organizations. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Enhancement of Splash Station to include a Lazy River and additional slide
  • Additions to John C. Fremont City Park
  • Additional Bike/Pedestrian Trails
  • Large Picnic Shelter/rest room at Johnson Park

Gideon's Army Jail and Prison Ministry

The general purpose of Gideon's Army is to provide faith based education and counseling for inmates, and housing for those who have been released. for six to eight months, with training to help them transition back into society so that they won't go back to their former patterns of living that led them to prison in the first place. They have the following wish list item:

  • Have a working farm where paroles can work as well as retrain their behaviors and habits away from influences and temptations of the city

Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska

The mission of Girl Scouting is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Council serves girls ages 5 - 18 within 92 counties in Nebraska and Carter Lake, Iowa. Some of their wish list items include:

  • 15-passenger van to transport girls and adults to Girl Scout activities anc events
  • Art supplies such as easels, canvas, brushes, paints, markers, and paper
  • Digital cameras and memory cards for girl to take photos
  • the following items for Camp Crossed Arrows in Nickerson, NE: A utility vehicle such as a Gator or Mule, chain saw, gas powered leaf blower, standard and metric socket sets, and a router for sign making.

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School is a rural school near Hooper, Nebraska. Some of the wish list projects at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School include:

  • Enhancing peripheral teaching equipment through the purchase of Smart Boards
  • Developing individualized tutorial and comparative study skills through the placement of web based computer programs.

John C. Fremont Days, Inc.

The purpose of John C. Fremont Days, Inc., is to promote and carry out an annual festival in Fremont, Neb., promoting the community and in celebration and in remembrance of the Pathfinder, John C. Fremont; providing entertainment, education, and a variety of activities for residents and visitors of all ages. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Searching for additional events, entertainers, demonstrators and activities which relate historically to the Fremont community
  • Update office equipment with a new copier
  • Expand volunteer base through the Fremont Volunteer Connection

Low Income Ministry of Dodge County

The Low Income Ministry of Dodge County works to help meet the needs of low income persons and those is crisis by providing food, clothing, hygiene products, rent, utilities, household goods and school supplies. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Address the floor covering deterioration in the Clothing Center and prevent potential safety issues
  • Purchase new communication system to add units to present telephone system to better handle increased client volume

Keep Fremont Beautiful

The mission of Keep Fremont Beautiful is to improve recycling efforts, waste handling practices, and to encourage citizens of Fremont and Dodge County to take greater responsibility for improving their community and the environment. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Gently used office chairs and desk
  • Color printer

Main Street Fremont

Main Street is a proactive community development organization dedicated to historic preservation, ensuring economic stability, and encouraging community investment in a vibrant, active downtown. Some of their wish list items include:

  • New sidewalks and the addition of trees
  • Additional plantings
  • Downtown parking lot improvements
  • Decorative street signage and banners

Midland Lutheran College

Midland Lutheran College is located in Fremont, Nebraska. Some of the wish list projects at Midland Lutheran College include:

  • Swanson Hall of Science Renovation: Built in 1964, major upgrades and renovations are needed to enable MLC to provide competitive science education and create interdisciplinary work space for our students and faculty.
  • Additional Apartment-Style Residence Halls: The addition of new residence halls will help us improve our students' quality of life and appeal to prospective students by offering more modern on-campus apartment style living space.
  • Scholarship Support: Midland currently provides $8 million in unfunded aid to students who want to receive a Midland education. Support of scholarships will allow the college to compete for quality students.

Midland-Washington Connection

The Midland-Washington Connection is a literacy program that is sponsored by Midland Lutheran College. This program has operated for the past four years as a community outreach program designated to accommodate a population that needs to be assimilated into the Fremont community for whom language skills in the regard are essential. This program especially helps them support their children in the Fremont school system. Some of the wish list projects for the Midland-Washington Connection include:

  • Refreshments for the program: this program currently purchases all refreshments for the Midland-Washington Connection program on a weekly to monthly basis
  • Portable classrooms

North Bend Library Foundation

The North Bend Library Foundation's mission is to promote, facilitate and implement collaboration between public and private funding sources in support of ensuring outstanding public library services to the community of North Bend for today and in the future. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Purchase the software 'Ancestry.com., the Library Edition' for genealogical research
  • Computers, copy machine, fax machine and additional technological equipment
  • Child friendly furnishings for the children's area
  • Video equipment and DVD player, projector and screen to be used for presentations
  • Copying, enlargement and framing of original photos from the Lincoln Highway construction for display
  • Chairs and tables for the multi-purpose and adult reading areas

Royal Family Kids Camps- Fremont Camp #243

The Royal Family Kids Camps provide an annual week-long camp for abused, neglected and abandoned children in the Fremont area. Some of their wish list items include:

  • Volunteers to help in the organization
  • Large or small gifts for 30-40 children ages 7-11
  • Financial donations to be used to sponsor a child, purchase supplies, pay for the camp, etc.
  • Supplies for camp crafts/activities for 30-40 children
