Apply for a Scholarship

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the online application before you begin. You may find it helpful to prepare some of the longer answers in a word processing document and then cut and paste that text into the application, especially since some scholarships require special essays.

You will be asked to attach documents including your high school and/or college transcripts, resume and ACT or SAT score documentation. You will also be required to obtain one recommendation in order to complete your application.

If you have any questions about eligibility, issues with submitting your application, or other general questions about the scholarships available, please contact us at or call 402-721-4252. For technical issues, please contact AwardSpring at or call 888-258-5628, option 2. Support hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The Selection Process

Scholarship recipients are selected based upon the specific criteria made by each fund’s donor. Each scholarship application is reviewed for completion of all required elements.

Every application is reviewed by members of either the Fremont Area Community Foundation's Scholarships Committee, or by members of a  committee that was established for a particular scholarship.

After all applications are reviewed, the Fremont Area Community Foundation’s Board of Directors reviews all recommendations and approves the scholarship awards.

Notification of Awards

Recipients of each scholarship will be notified by the Fremont Area Community Foundation during the first week May. If a student has not been notified, it means he/she was not awarded a scholarship this year.

Payment of Scholarship Awards

Payments are mailed directly to the school’s financial aid office before the beginning of each school year. Checks are made payable to the school and not to the individual recipient. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be asked to complete and return a scholarship acceptance form which will be mailed with your award letter from the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
