FREMONT, NE – The Fremont Area Community Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for Fremont area students pursuing higher education. The application deadline is April 1, 2024. The online application and requirements for each scholarship are available on the Fremont Area Community Foundation’s website at www.facfoundation.org/scholarships.

FACF administers approximately 80 scholarships, including three new funds available for 2024:

The Jeanette Carpenter Roberts Memorial Scholarship, established to provide financial support to graduating seniors of Fremont Senior High School;

The Martha Wicklund Velasco Memorial Scholarship, available for graduating seniors of Fremont High School who plan to pursue a degree in Business, Medicine or the trades;

The Emily Brown Memorial Scholarship, available for graduating seniors of Fremont High school who are planning to pursue post-secondary education.

In 2023, the Fremont Area Community Foundation awarded 118 scholarships totaling $138,283. But over $1.2 million has been awarded in scholarships which are available for high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships are offered for a variety of colleges, universities, technical and vocational schools as well as areas of study. Recipients are celebrated at the foundation’s annual scholarship luncheon, which will be held this year on June 9th at the Fremont Golf Club.

“Thanks to the generosity of many donors, hundreds of area youth have benefitted from scholarships administered by the Fremont Area Community Foundation,” said Melissa Diers, Executive Director of the foundation. “We are happy to speak with anyone who may be interested in starting a fund to help students pursue their academic goals.”
