NBACF Awards Grant for 3D Printer

North Bend Area Community Foundation recently awarded a grant to North Bend Central Elementary to support the purchase of a 3D printer aimed at enhancing STEAM education for students.

The grant, totaling $2,000, funded the addition of a 3D printer in Becky Streff’s 5th grade classroom, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities that integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

The project is designed to bring learning to life by allowing students to transform their ideas into physical objects. Through the use of 3D printing technology, students will engage in creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaborative learning experiences.

“This project is about making learning more meaningful and engaging for students,” said Streff. “By incorporating 3D printing into the classroom, students can connect concepts from reading, math, and science in a hands-on way that prepares them for future STEAM careers.”

The 3D printer will primarily serve fifth-grade students, while also benefiting staff and future students across the school. The initiative is expected to provide ongoing learning opportunities for years to come.
